Dr. Greenaway received her Ph.D. from York University. She has been practicing in Guelph for 25 years in both private practice and on the staff of the Homewood Health Centre. She has been involved in health care in the Guelph-Wellington community serving as the representative for Women’s Health on the Hospital Redevelopment Committee and as Vice Chair of the Board of Commissioners of Guelph General Hospital. In addition to her private practice Dr. Greenaway has been on the Continuing Education Faculty at the University of Guelph, is currently a part-time faculty member at St. Jerome’s University at the University of Waterloo and is a clinical supervisor for Psychologists preparing for licensing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Dr. Greenaway is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Canadian Psychological Association and is on the Canadian Registry of Health Providers in Psychology.
Dr. Greenaway’s orientation to her therapy practice is “client centred”, meaning: the therapy approach depends absolutely on the client, the type of work the client wants to do, the time and resources available to the client and what makes the most sense to the client in terms of ‘best fit’. She can offer many approaches to the therapy process always with the perspective that the client is the best expert on themselves. She’s a great believer in the demystification of psychology.
Over many years, Dr. Greenaway has developed a model of relationships and individual growth entitled CLARISTERY. If appropriate and of interest to a client this visual model is used in therapy/counselling. CLARISTERY is a comprehensive visual explanation of growth, change, relationship and boundaries throughout the life span. Over the years she has presented workshops using this model for client groups and for therapist’s educational development. It is a useful approach for work with adults of all ages especially during transitional periods in life.
Dr. Greenaway was born in Guelph but spent much of her younger years in the US and Switzerland. She has worked as a secretary for various organizations, as a ground crew member for a US based airline and for the Bahamian Ministry of Tourism. She has traveled widely finally settling down to her education in her late twenties. She has been a single mother [“and an older than average one at that”], still has hope about her ballet career and consequently, displays a good, albeit dry, sense of humour. In short, she has a lot of varied life experiences and has lived through them all.
